To Him Belongs Eternal Praise

Why do I question God’s care for me sometimes?

I received an e-mail from a friend this morning all about God’s care for us. It was a PowerPoint presentation and one of the little clips said: Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn’t ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted but couldn’t afford….that’s God. He knows the desires of your heart.

I read the e-mail and thought it was nice but didn’t think anymore about it until this afternoon. I was waiting in the doctor’s office and reading the catalog from Tobin’s Lab. As I was reading the section on space science fun, I saw the neatest kit to make your own glow-in-the-dark solar system. I thought it would be fun to do but money is tight right now so I put the thought out of my head.

My doctor’s office is in a shopping center and whenever I am there I always stop at a little thrift store called The Thrifty Quaker. They have a lot of neat things in there, especially games. Almost everytime I go, I purchase a game. As usual, I went to the back of the store to see what they had and there, hidden under some toys, was the exact kit I was just looking at in the catalog! I checked the contents and most of the pieces were there including the paint. The only things missing were some hooks and the instructions. I’m going to check on the internet to see if I can find replacement parts for it but even if I don’t find them, it’s still very usable.

Isn’t God good? He delights to give me the desires of my heart! And He does it even though I sometimes forget how much He loves and cares for me.

Psalm 111
Praise the Lord.
I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are His deeds, and His righteousness endures forever.
He has caused His wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear Him; He remembers His covenant forever.
He has shown His people the power of His works, giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy.
They are steadfast for ever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for His people; He ordained His covenant forever–
Holy and Awesome are His Name.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding.
To Him belongs eternal praise.
