I’m getting rid of more! I have been e-mailing all the homeschool moms at church to ask them to help me de-clutter my house by taking things for free. I gave a mom of 4 little ones our Duplo sets (a huge Rubbermaid bin) and our Veggie Tales ship. Her children were so excited–almost as much as I was. I also gave her a big grocery bag full of Bible story and picture books. Another mom requested our set of Adam Raccoon and Building Christian Character books. Another mom took away my extra set of Universal History of the World by Golden Press, an excellent history encyclopedia set. For more information, check here.
I also took three grocery bags full of books to the Goodwill along with various other “stuff”. I am so glad to get that out of the house. Tomorrow, Lord willing, I’m going to work on my pantry closet. Half of it is used for a pantry and the other half is storage, mainly for homeschool supplies. I know there’s a lot of wasted space in there and a lot of stuff that needs to be thrown out such as old arts and crafts supplies.
Next week the woodworker, a friend of ours, comes over to start building our bookcases and mantle in the family room. I’m so excited! Today I picked out the wood, stain and style of mantle I wanted. It is really going to lighten up that room. I wish I knew how to post pictures so I could show you the before and after. I’ll have to work on that.
Anyway, I am having so much fun giving all these things away that we never use but that are still quite useful. It’s been such a blessing to me! I still have more things to give away and I’m looking forward to it–not just because it’s de-cluttering my house but also because I’m enjoying sharing it with others!
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
