Chicken Pox, Cheering and Chilly Weather

Tuesday night JK came to me and said she had a bug bite under her arm. I lifted her shirt and there were lots of bug bites there! Chicken Pox! How do I know this? Because many children at our church have them also. It started about a week or so ago and has spread quickly through the children! I didn’t think Julianne would get them because she had them when she was younger. It was a mild case so I guess it didn’t build up her immunity. Another reason I was surprised was that I had just had her tested in June to see if she was immune because she hadn’t had the vaccine. My doctor told me that she was! I haven’t had a chance to call her this week but I will next week. I did call the orthodontist to let me know as she was in there Tuesday after before I knew. She was also at bowling Saturday and I think she was contagious then. All the children on her team go to public school so they’ve been vaccinated.

JK is doing fine. I let her take the week off school although she could have done some today. Next week we get back to business!! She still needs to stay home for a few more days. We don’t need to go anywhere until Tuesday so she should be fine by then.

JM had the semi-finals of cheering competition on Wednesday night and they made 4th place! That means they’ll be in the finals next Wednesday and if they get 4th or better, they will go to the regionals. That would be really excited. Jared told me today that he’ll be glad when competition is over because they’ll only have one practice a week. He’s having a hard time keeping up with his homework. He’s doing it but not as well as he would like.

Autumn has definitely arrived. The temperatures have been in the 60’s in the day and 30’s at night. Tonight there is a frost advisory for our area and a freeze warning for areas west of us! The leaves are finally starting to turn. I’m looking forward to the cooler days and nights. I love to make soups and stews. Tonight I made chicken pot pie. On his way home from his side job, my dh stopped for ice cream sundaes at Friendly’s. It was good dinner and dessert.
