The last two evenings we have had thunderstorms and rain. It is most welcome! My new flowers and plants are rejoicing. It is always amazing to see how much they perk up after it rains. Watering them from the hose just doesn’t produce the same kind of reaction. It’s only God’s storehouse of rain that causes them to flourish.
I have the same kind of reaction when it comes to God’s Word. I can read books or blog posts and listen to sermons or podcasts and I will be refreshed. But it is only from reading God’s Word that I am truly able to flourish. Why? Because only God’s Word is alive and able to change.
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
