Getting Ready…

Monday evening Julianne and I will be flying out to spend two weeks at my sister’s house in Nevada.  This is Julianne’s graduation (birthday/Christmas) present.  We’re really excited and looking forward to spending the time just relaxing.

We have a few excursions planned; most notably we’ll be spending two days at the Grand Canyon.  Driving out one day, spending the night and the next day there.  One of the things we’re looking forward to is a Star Party, where amateur astronomers from across the country bring their telescopes and share their knowledge with us.  I’m so looking forward to this!!

It’s going to be wonderful to get a close-up view of God’s heavenly creation.  And to be able to see the Milky Way in the dark sky.  Psalm 19:1-6:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

2Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

3There is no speech, nor are there words,

   whose voice is not heard.

4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun,

5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

6Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

and its circuit to the end of them,

and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
