Sunday Hymn

“Look, Ye Saints, the Sight Is Glorious”
by Thomas Kelly, 1769-1854

1. Look, ye saints, the sight is glorious;
See the Man of Sorrows now!
From the fight returned victorious,
Every knee to Him shall bow.
Crown Him! Crown Him!
Crowns become the Victor’s brow.

2. Crown the Savior! Angels, crown Him!
Rich the trophies Jesus brings;
On the seat of power enthrone Him
While the vault of heaven rings.
Crown Him! Crown Him!
Crown the Savior King of kings.

3. Sinners in derision crowned Him,
Mocking thus the Savior’s claim;
Saints and angels crowd around Him,
Own His title, praise His name.
Crown Him! Crown Him!
Spread abroad the Victor’s fame!

4. Hark, those bursts of acclamation!
Hark, those loud triumphant chords!
Jesus takes the highest station;
Oh, what joy the sight affords!
Crown Him! Crown Him!
King of kings and Lord of lords!

Birthday Celebration

I had a wonderful day celebrating with friends and family.  A few of the lunch bunch ladies treated me to lunch at a nearby French restaurant.  Oh la la!  I had the quiche Lorraine and it was very good.  Better yet was the fellowship.

Then in the evening, our family (plus Jessica’s beau, Anthony) all went to my favorite restaurant, Firebird’s.  I love that place.  We had a nice time celebrating my birthday.  I was just happy to have everyone there.  With the kids’ schedules and Michael being out of town a lot, it’s hard to get us all together.

I am so thankful to the Lord for my family and what they mean to me.  As a mom, I didn’t really need any presents except them!  As a wife, I am so happy that I married the man of my dreams!

Here’s some pictures from the evening:

She Waited for the Call That Never Came

She Waited for the Call That Never Came

She waited for the call
that never came;
searched every mail
for a letter,
or a note,
or card,
that bore his name;
and on her knees at night,
and on her feet
all day, she stormed Heaven’s gate
in his behalf;
she pled for him
in Heaven’s high court.
“Be still and wait; and see”–
the word God gave;
then she
knew that He would
do in and for and with him,
that which she never could.
So doubts ignored
she went about her chores
with joy–
knowing, though spurned,
His word was true.
The prodigal had not returned,
but God was God,
and there was work to do.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

Prayer of Saint Patrick

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

For July 9, 2010

Outside my window…a bright, sunny, hot afternoon. It’s only 95 which is a lot cooler than the 104 we had earlier in the week!

I am thankful…for family and friends

From the learning rooms…Julianne is still working on school during the summer months: art, Spanish, history and algebra

From the kitchen…making tacos tonight!!

I am creating…not much creating these days. I bought some material to make a tote bag for grocery shopping and I hope to get to that soon

I am reading…still working through “A Praying Life”. I’m about halfway through!

I am hoping…that the rest of the summer will go by slowly. I’m working on enjoying each day and making them as simple as possible

I am hearing…Julianne and her friend, Morgan, playing video games

One of my favorite things…is watching the birds that come to my feeders

Around the house…my flowers are growing and doing well but I have to water every day. We haven’t had any significant rain since the end of May

A few plans for the rest of the week: no plans outside the home this week. I need to finish cleaning up the school room and getting some of my books listed on Amazon

Here is a picture I am sharing…a beautiful sky

A Simple Woman’s Daybook

For Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Outside my window…partly cloudy and slightly warm; all the snow is melted!

I am thankful…for God’s Word

From the learning rooms…nothing today; Julianne is home sick with a stomach virus

From the kitchen…IHOP is giving away free pancakes so instead of going out, I’m making pancakes for dinner!

I am pondering…this quote from John Piper: “If we don’t want God above all things, we have not been converted by the gospel.” Powerful, convicting.

I am creating…I want to finish the bib I’m working on but I ran out of the one color I need and I can’t match it from my stock. I sent an e-mail to the company to request it but haven’t heard from them. Now I’m working on a pillow case.

I am reading…in Deuteronomy right and seeing how a lot those laws were meant to protect the Israelites from various diseases and such. To me, it shows how God is concerned with every area of our lives.

I am hoping…that we have seen the end of the cold weather. I love winter and snow but am now ready for spring!

Around the house…I’m working hard to catch up on all the chores I didn’t do while I was sick.

A few plans for the rest of the week: not much—errands to the library, grocery shopping

Here is picture I am sharing… none this week. I can’t upload any pix to Blogger!
